Let x = the 1st integer.
The 2nd integer would be x + 1.
So, the 3rd integer would be x + 2, right?

x + (x + 2) = -38
2x + 2 = -38
2x = -40
x = -20

Answer: The integers are -20, -19 & -18.

Let's check:
-20 + (-18) = -38 <== Bingo!

Hope this is clear enough for you.
Good luck in your classes.
