HELP! Anyone have any tips for the game in general?

A Good tip is don't start breeding too early... Keep it to a minimum as children don't do anything until they are 14 -- at which point they can only work... Breeding isn't until age 18.
Start out by having one Villagers as your farmer... Keep them foraging for food, and take all the others and drop them onto the Research table. You need to get enough tech points to reach Level 2 and then Level 3 Farming... This will ensure the survival of your villagers.
Focus then on your Construction and Science... The Science does actually help you gain tech points faster... So think about that one after you've invested in Level 2 Farming.
Aside from that... Don't grow too quick too fast. And pay atention to your Villagers. When they go wandering away to look at something it usually means that it has something to do with one of the puzzles that you have to solve.

Most important thing is the research. Keep as many villagers as possible at the table and do not let them do things like laundry.

i started out this game and was lost. you need to build up your food/farming tech and your breeding tech. constantly be foraging/farming/fishing to keep your food stock high. also keep breeding to keep your population high. after doing that you can finish the game no problem.
