I have to right a story in english class and have to include 2 prepositional phrases. Are these prepositional phrases?

- before the class started

- after the class when the bell rings

Yes, "before the class started" is a prepositional phrase
but your second phrase should be only "after the class"
or "when the bell rings". I mean the second line includes two prepositional phrases instead of just one.
