remove yourself from smoking situations and environments - when I quit I knew I couldn't sit at a kitchen table and drink beer and play cards with friends for a while - it took few months but they understood and loved and supported me.
When you do get an urge to smoke - tell yourself "BUT I DON'T SMOKE..." and then take a walk, get a glass of cold water, or exercise or do stretches.
for that after meal smoke - as soon as you are done smoking, get up and brush your teeth.
Put up encouraging sayings or visual encouragements - on the mirror in the bathroom put a sign of "this is just one day - you won't smoke" and then see it everyday.
Good Luck and don't be afraid to ask for help - a friend to divert your thoughts and keep you focused, someone to drag you out for that walk when you get 'nutty'. or to spend a little money now on patches, drugs, whatever - all that's expensive but is temporary and you can just use your smoking money on that for a little while.
I smoked for 25 years and have been smoke free for 4 years - if I can do it - you can.
