It's obviously not hurting the Earth since it came from it to begin with. I think it's just people that want to push their aesthetic preferences on society.
It's find to want a "clean" planet but don't lie and tell people paper will hurt the planet. It came from trees after all.

The 'litter' has been processed in unnatural ways that make it chemically interactive or non-biodegradable. The chemicals released by many litter products are toxic, resulting in harm to various life forms.

It is a certainty that 'litter' has choked off the life in many rivers. Cleaning up the litter has restored some of those rivers.

It all came from trees? Plastic does not come from trees, nor does it occur naturally. The 'earth' has no way to deal with and break down plastics -- among other things.

because any how it may have came from the earth it is no longer natural,it has had chemicals and other things added to it to make it what we call litter /trash. copper comes freom the earth but even that is refined to be sold or used and cannot just be thrown away on the ground. if it is so natural, would you like everyone to empty their (natural)litter in your yard so you can wait for the earth to recycly it NATURALLY????????????/
