when you lock up the door at night anbd your tired and you fall a sleep how safe are you in you home . if you not put your laptop off and it is on while your sleep ?Major Japanese electronics maker Toshiba Corp. said Friday that it is recalling 830,000 batteries made by Sony for its laptops, the latest in a growing global recall involving Sony batteries. Sony has said the batteries could catch fire in rare cases when microscopic metal particles came into contact with other parts of the battery cell, leading to a short circuit. Typically a battery pack will power off when there is a short circuit; but on occasion the battery would catch fire instead.

They catch fire when the reach extremely high temperatures. If you noice your laptop getting abnormally hot, get a cooling stand for it, make sure it is well ventalated.
Dell says to eject the battery and use direct power when using the laptop at home.
Hope this helps, sleep well !!

Here, we lock all the doors at night, turn the alarm on, if a window or a door gets opened, the whole neighbourhood is going to know about it. There are 3 smoke alarms downstairs, 1 in the stair well and 2 upstairs, all our electronics get turned off at the powerpoint and unplugged when not in use, there are 3 fire extinguishers and 2 fire blankets in our house and an evacuation plan on the back of the doors to each room. I would say that my family is pretty safe. We don't use the battery in our laptop, we have it plugged in when in use.

cuite, apparently you are trying to reach people who otherwise might not see this information elsewhere. Its kind of you.
If you are telling the truth and have caused even _one_ person to pay attention that may have had a fire, then you have done a good thing.
Since you arent calling in a phony order for delivery pizza and watching for the people to get the pizza delivered-in other words you have nothing to gain-I believe you. I dont have a laptop; I looked at your question b/c I live in an unsafe neighborhood and have an exterior door lock on my bedroom door. Thought your bold line quesion referred to something that might apply to me. Well...I COULD get a laptop from someone for Christmas. In that case, I will remember your information and refer back. Thanks for the info. You reach more of the world than 15 or however many people answered this. You'd probably make a good neighbor. And please...enough people think Y!Answerers fish for Best Answer. Dont give it to me, please, so others will know I am serious about you trying to do a good thing here. Best to you.

What the *&%# does this have to do with "being safe in your own home"?? Are you as concerned about bad tires, pesticides in fruit, earthquakes, and rattle smakes, or is it just the killer batteries that are keeping you awake at night?

Face it. you're NEVER safe. Anything could happen anytime. Best you can do is keep your Karma in good shape and don't be stupid. God takes care of the rest.
