Ask about kids, finances, who's going to do what as far as house work, who's paying for what, one bank account or two? The list goes on and on. I'd ask him too what he envisions for the two of you in the next ten years.

Alot of the time the number next to someone's name is their age. If you are 18 years old there is no way you should be getting married. That is way too young and you and your guy will both be different people in a few short years. There is a good chance you will grow apart.

Also I believe in very long engagements. I don't think you really know a person until you have known them for 4 years. In that time you will have sorted out all the questions.

I think important questions would include. Do you both want kids? What religion will the kids be raised in? Will you both work? Will you both work if you have kids? How are you going to manage money matters? Where are you going to live? What are your short and long term goals? And do your goals work together?

Do you want to know how to carry on a conversation, or are you interested in knowing more about his character and how it relates to his being your potential husband? Ask each other:

1. Do you want to have children?
2. Can we talk about money?
3. Can we talk about sex?
4. How much time will we spend with our in-laws?
5. Will you clean the toilet?
6. How do you want to spend our days off?
7. How often do you drink? Smoke? Use drugs?
8. Have you ever hit someone?
9. Do you think it is important to be faithful to one another? Have you ever cheated?
10. What do you think we'll be doing in thirty or forty years?

How do you feel about handling life when it gets tough? Do you trudge on, or do you get upset about it? Do you yell and get angry at those around you, or do you turn inwards and lock people out emotionally?

Looking ahead into your married life, you need a partner who either thinks like you, or is your opposite person who can be beneficial. Marriage takes work, and you need to know if you can count on that person when things don't come easy. People marry sometimes not knowing the true "metal" of the person they choose, and when things go bad they get a surprise. Be smart and find out ahead.

When does he plan to marry? May not be you.

How does he see himself in 10 years from now?

Tell him to describe his car, money, credit cards, women, clubs, kids or no kids,

Will he live in a house? or apartment?

Will his buddies come over and hang out with beer?

Does he see himself feeding KIDS? Over beer?

HHHmmmmmm......this DAD can go on .......
