I think it's illegal in most states to trap and keep wildlife. They are disease ridden and I can't see how it would be a good pet. Get a chinchilla instead.

i don't think you can buy them. but if you want, you can catch your own, wild, disease-carrying one by setting up a trap:
1. Get lots of assorted nuts, preferably including acorns.
2. Put them inside a cat carrier (a few in the front, then lots in the back).
3. When you see a squirrel go inside there, sneak up on it so it doesn't run, then shut and latch the door quickly.
4. Enjoy your disease-ridden squirrel.

If you are bitten:
1. Scream and hit the squirrel. Release it.
2. Eat a soda fizz candy so that you foam at the mouth.
3. Run to the ER screaming insanely.
4. Maybe bite someone.

Climb a tree and act like a nut. The squirrel will find you.

I don't think they are sold in pet stores. Better off setting a trap and catching one in a park or backyard.
