What is your you all's opinion and/or experience with interracial or intraracial marriage? As a non-racially baised Chinese man, I'd have to say usually, but not alway, endogamy (marriage with a partner from same nationality and same race) works out better than exogamy (marriage with a partner from different nationality and different race). I say this based on my common sense, observation, and statistics. Marriage is a complicated thing and having a spuse come from a different culture, different nation, and different language further complicates the marriage inviting more efforts from both spouses. This is not limited to an Asian marrying a Caucasian . Even within same race, marriage such as between Russian and German OR Chinese and Japanese can invite problems/issues down the road one way or another.
I am not saying endogamy is always good thing, but I'd have to say that endogamy tends to end up less divorce and tends to be most trouble-free. In this world that is becoming

increasingly diversified and comlex, the number of exogamy will more than likely keep increase. What is your opinion or experience about exogamy/endogamy?

It is obvious that you either have a family member or very close friend that is going in this direction and you've done your home work. Interacial marriage is not for everyone and can put some strain on the couple involved including their children. Love does not defer when 2 people come together as one. I have seen the beauty in mixed race marriages and find it fascinating. The children are usually very exotic in nature and looks. I have four brothers and three different races they married. 1 didn't work and three did... The couples just have to be committed and go for it. I find that problems in marriage are the same no matter whom you marry. :) Hope you get the answer you seek. Good luck.

I'm black my fiance is white, we've been together for two and a half years and I can't tell you how close we are. He is the greatest thing to ever happen to me! We have a 1 yr old daughter and three step children between us! I know what people think about "exogamy", my family has expressed their negative feelings about it but you know what if two people can look past their differences and find love then what business is it of ours to judge them or their decision to Wed. I hate the notion that two people from different cultures or races can't be happy because they're different! If you had any real life experiences and common sense you would know that you're not dating or marrying a person's culture or their race you are marrying their personality, how they make you feel about yourself and that little chill on the back of your neck everytime you hug them or just sit and think hard about that person!! These questions are the equivalent of a homosexual person asking can opposite sex marriages work!! That may be a little extreme but it's just as insulting as this question! Why are so many people such bigots in this world!! Why don't you answer that question for me!!!!

well too bad your way off in your findings
well interacial marriage do present challanges
it because those who seek endogamy marriages suffer poorly if only for the fact that women now a days know they have options, and depending on the countries may no longer suffer from the stigma of divorce.. in addtion since it's not as taboo ( again depending o nthe country ) to marry outside your culture, many women / men seek other more exotic / attractive partners or less oppressive cultures in which to marry into. Where I live ( southern California ) it is so common no one really cares, and those who tend to be of the same culture ( depending on the culture ) divorce at roughly the same rate of not higher due to the fact that once Americanized or westernized, the stigma of "crossing the line" becomes more common and there is less pressure to keep them from doing so. Those who say keep with in your own backyards are those who live in a semi fearful / paranoid that their identity is slowly getting lost / diluted with cross marriages. Despite some Asian countries homolization ( Japan is a good example ), they have high divorce rates as they are very modern and western, and thus there we are one mentality is long gone, and it's everyone out for themselves. This leaves them free to explore other cultures. As western influence seeps into toher countries, so to does the values of personal independance and freedrom of choice, 2 great values this country is based on. It's why the extremists in the Islamic world fear.. losing control by their strict rules, and if you follow history, if you oppress people long and hard enough, usally the rebellion starts not with a arms, but with personal movements, and such is divorce, and cross marrying.

An interesting question indeed. i always believed I would marry someone outside my own race, though as fate would have it, i married a caucasian woman, and now as fate would have it, I'm getting divorced by her, so even endogamy is difficult. Most people don't have trouble with race, or even with culture, but when you throw religion into it, THAT'S the ultimate wedge because of belief. You can live in a new place with a new wife in a new culture, but when it comes down to spiritual beliefs, it's each to their own. Especially if that someone is a religious zealot or a avid practitioner, and they either expect you to be with them, or against them. I've had girlfriends of almost every race, but never dealt with their religious beliefs.

I agree with Bored at Work! BOTH my parents are mixed and so am I .. they are from two different "cultures" and they are mixed within them and never had a problem ... it makes their off spring cultured and interested in human beings in general. Pay little less attention to
the differences buddy-it all boils down to your understanding of your partner. Marriages aren't perfect and that's what I'm finding out.

I think everyone should have interracial marriages then all this racial hate bs might end for a change.I am white ,and so is my wife and i love her to death, if she was Hispanic,African,Asian,or whatever i would still have married her because i love her. i don't give a crap about race and no one else should either.
the same goes for age,my wife is 10 years older than me.she also makes more money.OK the money part bugs me but the age don't. we are also from different cultures so to speak,I'm from the south her the north(VA and NJ) but did the constant ridicule from people about dating a Yankee,or poor white trash(don't ask me how i qualified for that one i did good down home) stop us hell no. and it shouldn't
do what your heart tells you to and be happy. just for the record we have been married for 4 years and still love each other to death.
well technically speaking we have an interracial marriage. she is Russian(part of Asia) polish and German(European) I am native American (speaks for itself) Scottish, french, English(European). i see absolutely nothing wrong with it.
i agree about the religon though,we do disagree on that(she is catholic and im protestant). but we are raising our child as both and letting him know later on he can make his own decision.
i have dated outside my race a few times,i enjoyed it alot.it adds spice to your life.I didn't care about the comments made to me,or the looks. but when they made comments to them is when i got nasty.
it is really odd a man will want to have sex with an asian, african, hispanic,or any other race but when it comes to marriage interracial is wrong.
OK LADIES YOU WILL HEAR IT FROM A MAN, WE ARE DOUBLE STANDARD LIVING PIGS,THAT ONLY CARE ABOUT US. until we good hooked by the right one, then it is her her her,and no one else.

I am in an interracial marriage and yes it's tough. I believe that one should know about the culture and be open. Alot of times people decide Oh that's cool about your culture and don't realize there are many more things about that person's culture and get shell shocked. So, my suggestion to one is to make sure that they understand keypoints and practices of a culture and then make and educated decision on marriage.

Your theory would work if there weren't so many divorces from same race couples.... marriage is marriage honey, it's two individuals with personalities, values and characters that come together. Nothing to do with race or culture, unless you let it guide you.
Open your mind, you don't know what you'd be missing.

I think that if you are going to marry another race, you should be prepared to work through culture issues!!!
This is especially true for the interracial children out of these relationships!!
Marriage is alot of work by itself; then to add more race issues on top; people would need to be very determined to love each other and work through their differences!!!
God can help too!

My wife is Black and I am white... We have a great marriage (better than any other couple I know). For anyone to think that a relationship would not work based on different ethnicity's is a ignorant moron.
We are going on six years, trying to have our first child and we grow stronger/closer everyday.
