I assume you're going be a fashion designer. Build up a portfolio of your fashions and go to fashion colleges. If you have the game Careers, it shows you how to start in the fashion design title jobs.

I have 2 words for you ... WORK EXPERIENCE. Yes having a standard education is necessary but you don't need a degree. If you are going into marketing or the business end of it thats totally different, but I'm assuming that you are talking about buying or designing. To get in to this end of fashion you need to get in to a company and get experience. I had to work for free for 3 months and now I'm on my way to being a buyer with a very exclusive department store.

You need hard work, determination and confidence. Even if the first place you work isn't that prestigious, you have to start somewhere. Take whatever you are offered and work up from there. Tell a new employer your plans and ask them if you can achieve them working in their company.

Remember, ANYONE can do a fashion course but it takes character and balls to actually get out there and do it. Basically, just ask anyone and everyone to hire you until someone says yes. Fashion people are more interested in balls, determination and a love of fashion than education.

Fashion isn't a very promising career. I started there and then got a real job when I found it paid next to nothing. And it's horrible in terms of not being challenging or rewarding. Still, if that's what you want, study something like Fashion Merchandising in college. Get a degree. While doing that, work at a retail store. Keep asking for more responsibility - department manager, assistant buyer, things like that.

Design some clothes and make/have them made up.
You now need a fashion show and a way to make it memorable.
Persuade some of your friends to model your clothes for you in carnaby street one saturday. As Designer you will present the show and want to be noticed so a fortnight before the event takes place start a new fashion by slitting your nose - they will really notice you then wont they? Even if your designs are awful they will certainly remember you for the slit nose.

I don't know what HND in IT is, however, why not try selling your fashions to small shops or on commission?

Get your local newspaper or weekly newspaper to come and interview you, show them your fashions on your friends and tell people you're willing to create something special or a look for them.

Go volunteer with a group that gives clothes to women going to their first jobs who can't afford pricey fashions. Show them how to have their own ' style' but still look professional.

In other words develop your own niche wherever you are and promote promote promote yourself and your fashions. If they're good , not too pricey, people will come to you, if they see something on their friends that looks good .

Good luck.

You could start your fashion career of slowly at first by sewing clothes in your home for your friends. Get there opinions and see how they like the new design. If your still interested you could attend a Fashion College such as the one in New York

I'm glad that I could help you

if you haven't graduated from high school yet, then first graduate, then get an internship so that you know that the fashion industry is what you want to do for a living, and also, if you wanted to, at the same time go to a college for fashion, or something like that. Then, go from there.

what area in fashion are you talking about? merchandising, modeling, make-up, hair, clothing designer.... that all makes a difference... education does make a huge difference. the fashion market is highly competitive, so you have to have something that is better than the rest. you must stand out in the crowd with your ideas and know what you are doing.
