this is difficult for me being a yankees fan, but it depends what your looking for. I'd say Arod for homers and Jeter for hits. But i think Jeter is better overall because Arod has no clutch ability whatsoever and Derek is always there to get a hit when it is needed. and he is more of a leader.

This year was an aberration for A-Rod, both defensively and offensively - he's a much better player than he was this year. Jeter is a better all-around hitter but doesn't have the power A-Rod does. A-Rod still puts up solid all-around hitting numbers with good power. A-Rod is a Gold Glove third baseman (with the exception of 2006). Jeter is a tad overrated on defense - he makes diving catches, but he doesn't have the range of an elite shortstop. So he makes highlight reels, but those are catches that would have been "easy" for a SS with better range. I don't have the stats to back up that claim with me at the moment, unfortunately.
Overall, I'd have to go with A-Rod by a slight margin. It'd be interesting to see what Jeter could hit like in a lineup that didn't have so many All-Stars, though.

Jeter, he is Mr. October for a reason. The first game v. the tigers he went 5 for 5. he's taken the yankees to the playoffs for a few years now. ARod is pretty good, but he isn't at the level Jeter is at.

Jeter all the way. Yeah A-rod will hit the home run when the Yanks are up by 10! Just not when they need him too!!!

A-Rod for Homers but Jeter is better with clutch hits.
A-Rod for slugging but Jeter for consistency.
Hmm. This is hard.
I don't think you can compare the two.
Let me think . . .
Ok.
My vote goes to Jeter this year ~
even though A-Rod has great numbers.
Next year will be better for my sweet A-Rod! ; )

the normal moron Yankee fan who pretends to like baseball would say Jeter. And this year, they have a great case.
But for their careers definitally A-Rod. h was compared to the greatest ever a couple years ago. Look at that contract. He gets that much for a reason. Jeter never has been compared to the greats like that. Jeter still is a guarunteed every year all-star and a future Hall of Famer and a Yankee great.

JETER!!
No offence to A-Rod but Jeter. A-Rods been kind of bad lately hopefully he comes back to his greatest.
Both of them are cute but again my opinion goes with Derek.
