I have been listening to Republicans complain about what Democrats knew about the Mark Foley thing. What difference does that make? Republicans knew about this thing for years, had all the power in Washington and still did nothing.

Even assuming the Democrats knew anything, what could they do? They don’t have majority on any committee, they do not have subpoena power, or anything.

This is a Republican issue and theirs alone.

Excellent Question! Of course, the Republicans have hit the wall because of greed and basic dishonesty. And, they do not have one thing they can point to as an accomplishment except setting the US back at least a decade if not 4 times that sum.
It absolutely boggles the mind to see how careless this three major leaders Bush, Cheney and Rummy have been for six long years. They did Vietnam all over again.
Those three did not learn one single lesson collectively from the Vietnam War. How could that happen?
I am just afraid that we are not going to get out of Iraq as easy as we did in Vietnam. There are lots of complex problems like the possibility of going to War with Iran.
I am sure that the NeoCon's are hoping Bush does it, but if that happens, we are in for a very long winter of the spirit.

it's hilarious how everything that's gone wrong in the past 6 years is the democrats fault if you talk to a Republican... apparently they forgot how Government works...

see if you have a majority and presidency, you can pretty much do whatever you want... I've not heard any filibusters or even any threats... so I don't understand why the U.S. still has all these problems that they cry about?

you've had 6 years and invaded the one country in the middle east that had nothing to do with 9-11... nice...

is there anything you guys can't screw up...

the foley thing is just the latest example...

I love the arrogance of all the Republicans trying to explain how they are taking responsibility and shift the focus off of their party using our former president.

I have only seen one or two guys take responsibility in the Republican Pedophilia Scandal. One was a pervert, and one resigned in disgust because his warnings were not heeded.

Hastert needs to go, he is not innocent and as he said, "the buck stops" with him. That is accountability.

Do you have a site or link or anything?

I haven't heard Republicans blaming Democrats for anything to do with the Foley issue...

In general, some of us tend to blame the perpetrator. I know this is a difficult concept for liberals, and I am trying to be patient... so I'll give you Democrats some free advice: Do something (anything) besides blame others for your failure to connect with the American people...

The way I see it, the wacko resigned, let the courts take it from here, and BOTH sides need to move on.Of course with the elections a month away, the weasel Dems will continue to run it in the ground, in their desperate attempt to get votes.

Republicans didn't know about this for years...no one really did (I've heard a few people knew). And democrats cry about everything the republicans try to pass. They are annoying.

They've grown comfortable using Dems as a scapegoat for their disasters. Better decision is if good Republicans take their party back from the den of thieves, Bush, Cheney, Romsfeld, Rice and Rove, et al..
