A prime example of political correctnesss gone insane.
You can date whoever you damn well please. Whatever liberal squid programmed this into you needs to be shot!
There are no "supposed to's" in dating.
Your life.... your choice.

As an older white man who has dated a woman/girl from every race in the face of the earth, or just about, let me put it this way:
The "in thing" has been and always will be to date that person whom you have genuine feelings for and/or just like being with for whatever reasons you both feel are valid.
What other people think or say has no bearing on what you feel for another person. What you DO when you have those feelings is another story. Why let others dictate how you feel towards another person? Isn't that giving away your persona and your freedom to make your own choices?
Why did I date so many different races? Because I lived in those places and wanted to know how women really felt about themselves and their culture. The study of cultures and customs has always been a very serious "hobby" of mine. I NEVER felt uncomfortable dating any woman or girl - neither did they with me.
Be who you are and revel in it.

Yes, people are dating outside of their race more now than before, but still, only 10% of Black men and 5% of black women are CURRENTLY involved in an interracial relationship. So, you're representing the general rule in the black community, not the exception.

Date him, if you like him. Don't worry about race and stuff. My boyfriend is black, and I am oriental, right, it's an interracial relationship, but we are together because we want to be together, not because it's in thing. And I get a lot of awkward comments from (mostly old) people form the countryside of a country in the Far East, where I am from, but we are still together anyway. So go for it, and don't worry about those things.
The important thing is, you guys like each other, and be nice to each other. If he says stuff like " I ain't gonna date you, because you are black too" then forget it, he ain't worth it.
By the way, I tell you what, when we argue because we have different opinions, and if he thinks my opinion is too oriental, he says "Ah, baby, I should have stuck to my origin... should have stuck to African woman!" If you guys argue, you won't need to listen to that : )
