I agree with you. The answers are usually "I don't listen to that" or "Why do you even listen to that music" If you don't like rap/hip hop why would you even take the time to click on the question and read it? I think most people probably have never taken the time to really listen to hip hop. They just associate the music with crime and violence because this is what some rappers sing about.

This is common in many areas of Y!A when people have strong feelings about a topic. For example, I frequent the vegetarian/vegan section (being a vegetarian), and almost every question somebody chimes in with "Why would you want to be a vegetarian, meat is so great!" And I think, why are you even bothering to answer this? These people shouldn't even be in the section. And have you ever checked out the religion/spirituality or politics sections? Talk about rude, off-topic answers... whew!

Basically, many people just feel the need to make their opinion known regardless of whether it's asked for or wanted. I agree with you. I don't like hip-hop, so I just don't answer questions about it unless it's something that specifially has to do with my opinion on it. That's the bad side to a forum like this. When everybody can answer... everybody does.

well I remember rappers delight and double dutch bus from when they came out, it was different and many kids my age did like it Alot, but as many things, rap and hip hop evolved, back then it was more innocent. And hip hoppers today and rappers today seem to have more of a egotistical attitude without caring how offensive it is towards races, cultures, people. Please dont get me wrong I listen to some- Toby Mac, Grits and a few more you may not have heard of, but the message is positive, not angry, degrading or sexual. As I stated music has changed, and it will keep doing so.
Peace

That's true! If you don't like the kind of music, and find it offensive, or whatever your reason is, don't answer the question with your rude remarks. Just ignore it and go on with your life. It's one question out of like 50 million on this site. Surely you can go find another one to get points on.
