They do more and more comercial for "not to vote this November."
I can understand what they think and what they want. Because I also feel very disappointed of our country or politican.

However, I am curious who support "dontvote.com"? I can not find out any benefit they can get from those comercial.

AARP, the American Association of Retired Persons.

The "don't vote" message is not meant literally, they just want people to research the policies first.

The AARP want you to vote for more social security funding.

They also want the government to haggle with pharmaceutical companies to get cheaper drugs for pensioners. Most other countries already do this. But not the USA. That's why the USA spends more on health-care than other countries, but has a worse health-care system than other countries. The government let's private corporations organise everything and won't throw its weight around.

Don't confuse these people with the other "Don't Vote" people, the "Billionaires for Bush". That is a satirical group that dress up as millionaires and jokingly tell people not to vote so that power will stay in the hands of the rich. They make it clear that it is the rich who want people not to vote and they actually want people to vote.

The billionaires for bush sometimes put up don't vote billboards without explanation, and then later after it kicks up some controversy they reveal a new billboard explaining it.

Anyway, I'm not from your country, so I haven't seen the ads, so I can't say for sure what they are about.

By the way, YOU SHOULD VOTE. If you don't like the Democrats or the Republicans, then vote for somebody different. If there is nobody different, organise some of your friends to run for parliament yourself. But whatever you do, don't just give up and let politicians do whatever they want. Not voting is the same as giving the government a blank check to do whatever it wants.

Oh, I amost forgot, voting itself isn't enough. While I strongly disagree with anyone who tells you not to vote, don't think that voting by itself is enough to change things. You also need protests and other activities between elections to keep the government accountable. One person at a protest makes A LOT more difference than one vote.

Also, whoever said the USA should change to a different voting system rather than the "winner takes all" system is correct. There are two other options... either proportional representation, where whoever gets 10% of the vote gets 10% of the seats in parliament, or preferential voting (like in Australia) where people get to rank EVERY candidate from multiple parties, and whoever is least unpopular (rather than most popular) wins.

It is supported by the AARP, and does not discourage people from voting, but helps to inform voters where their representatives stand on various issues. The site is designed to help people make a more informed decision when they do vote.

Everyone needs to vote so we can remove republicans from office. Republican leadership has america declining wages, rising poverty and the worst deterioration in our fiscal situation in history.

How could any more people possibly NOT vote?

50% of the population isn't enough?

i think it's a sign we need to move away from our winner-takes-all election system. i'm sick of both majore parties... we need to move to a parliamentary system or at least instant run-off voting.
