HI my son had colic really bad too. The ped. put him on Nutrimagin Hypoallergenic formula, it worked much better then the alimentum (that just backed him up). I have no idea about Zantac though, never heard of that. We also gave our boy Oval drops, they also helped too!
Also, I know this is horrible, I feel for you. But, I promise it does get better. My boy is 10 mths now and most of the time he is a joy! And I love him so much! You will get past this!

Before you try the Zantac, try some Hylands Colic tablet. Zantac is for heartburn(acid reflux). You can also try switching formulas. My son did horrible on the Similac formula. Another good formula is Nestle Good Start, but I guess you should talk to your doctor first. When you put your baby to bed at night try letting the baby sleep in a bouncy or a swing.

Sometimes it takes babies a little longer to physically develop enough to be able to digest their formula well, or they may have an intolerance to certain ingredients in the formula. The formula he is on now should help with that. He probably has gas or some other tummy discomfort when he's crying. That is what Zantac was prescribed for. You could try a warm bath/massage when the tummy trouble first begins (after the Zantac). Good luck to you and I hope your baby boy gets over his tummy troubles soon!

Lay him on your lap with a blanket rolled underneath his belly. lay him face down on his belly when you do this and pat with a soft, but solid thump on bis back he needs pressure on his belly. Also, get peppermint discs take a 1 quart saucepan and boil that 1 disc until the disc is gone then take that and put it in a container use that peppermint juice 1/2 & 1/2 water peppermint helps with the gas. Most pediatricians may not reccomend what the other thing I am about to tell you, but get Rice cereal for babies and just put a couple of table spoons in the bottle. the reason is it is thicker and makes less air. fills the tummy better. I hope that helps I know it did my kids. The reason pediatricians don't reccomend the cereal is because they want you to wait until the baby is 6 months old to start them on cereals. it's an allergy thing. Your baby will be ok as long as you use JUST the Rice cereal in a formula bottle.

Zantac is for indigestion, but why don't you ask maybe your baby is Lactose intolerant and needs to be on a Lactose free formula, or soy milk, my son was the same way, and was better when we changed to Lactose free formula.
Good Luck

I've heard of a lot of babies having to be on it for acid reflux. It sounds like it has become a pretty common thing. I hope your baby is feeling better soon!

I would try Enfamil Nutramigen. My little one cried for 4 months, we even took her to Primary Childrens Hosipital. They couldn't find anything wrong with her. As soon as I switched her formula to this, she was like a NEW child!
