and i tried to install it on my computer, but it was really slow,and never worked. the computer is only like 6 years old, and the sims 1 is like 5 right? anyway as soon as i installed the expantion packs...it slowed down. help please?

You may need more RAM. Or your video card may be weak. Or, you may just need a newer computer.
Check the box for System Requirments then look at your computer. Right Click on the My Computer icon and choose properties. See the RAM there.
Go to www.crucial.com or www.pny.com and see if your computer will take more RAM.

The Sims Requires a Minium of128 mg of ram but recomends 256 also recomeneds minimum procc speed of 750 Mhz....win 98 SE or Win Me based....It will run under XP as well.
Either upgrade your memory or release some virtual memory by closing background programs.

You may need to install more memory (RAM) to support the game. Also, if your running Windows you can kill any programs running in the background to speed the computer up.
Do this:
ATL+CTL+DEL
Task Manager
click on the Processes tab
Sort by User
(don't touch the processes under LOCAL or SYSTEM)
Other than that you can kill some of the larger processes running ... besides explorer.exe .. don't touch that. Should help some.

yeah it says on the box how much memory and what the requirements are for it so yeah thats probly why it went so slow.
