You could use uncooked pasta for the smooth endoplamsic reticulum and then glue coloured sprinkles on to make the rough endoplasmic reticulum. You might want to use dried kidney beans to make the mitochondrion. just get thinking creatively and it will come to you.

There are 2 different projects you could do. You could use play-do. Take the nucleus and make it a color and make it into a ball. Next put the next layer, flatten it and wrap it around the nucleus and then continue to layer until you get to the cell wall or whatever the outer layer is. Make sure you flatten each layer and completely wrap one color on top of another and then you will have one big ball and then cut it in half. The other answer is to take a cabbage and cut it in half and theen paint the different layers as parts of the cell. Also to go with it make a poster of the 3-D model with the colors and the function of the cell parts. ex. Nucleus- blue-brain of the cell and controls the cells activities

I used to use Styrofoam for the outside and got creative with the inside, usually i would use play dough and paint or anything that would resemble the parts of the cell on the inside..... or if u hav the time and patience, a paper mache model could work...good luck, and have fun!!!!!

You could use transparent balloons with various things inside to represent the organelles. 2 balloons for the lipid membrane bi-layer. One balloon (smaller for the nucleus) filled with long strips of shredded paper for DNA. Outside of the the nucleus balloon you could use jelly beans for mitochondria.
