Yes, I've been in your situation. Supervisor's and bosses do seem to resent it when you know more than them. The way I got around it was that I had to suck up to them as my superiors. I used my knowledge to get the job done but made it so that the supervisor got all the credit. Of course, you have to let the supervisor know what your capabilities and skills are. When that is realized, the supervisor will begin to depend on you for your knowledge and will then be willing to reward you with pay or promotion.'

Yes, supervisors and bosses hate it when their sub ordinates know better. Well, try taking thigns slower. If you're a fast learner like what my boss calls me all the time... try to ask alot of questions as if you don't understand whats happening in the work place, that makes you look like you're slow in catching up but where your boss/supervisor isn't around go abouts how you know everything works...

In my first job as a front desk clerk, I was able to fit in after one week from starting and I had two supervisors in the front desk, one supervisor always gave me hard time for catching up so fast. To make me look dumb, he would create problems and blame it on me. What I did was layed low, even if I knew how to do it, I won't volunteer, I'll keep my mouth shut. Until I found a new job where my new boss appreciates me for being a fast learner and lets me express myself, ideas, and thoughts.

=)

I am a manager of employees and of course I report to management as well. As an employee of anyone you have to remember a few things:
1. It is your job to make money for the company (or save the company money).
2. To advance your career you make your department look good and you make your boss look good.
3. There is nothing more that a manager likes out of an employee than to see them do something without being asked, to work overtime without being asked, and to rise to an occassion.
I would not worry about looking smarter than your boss, what you need to worry about is TRYING to look smarter than your boss. Thats when you get in trouble.

i think there are 2 possibilities...to hate you as you just say it...or to agree it and offer you a better position...but...the second situation is very rare. You don't have to pretend to be a slow learner because the problem is not you!

I am sure many do.

I however believe in having people smarter than me working for me.... or I have nothing to gain. Why hire idiots ? I want the brightest around me so hopefully it will rub off on me !!
