i thought she was writing stories to entertain her daughter..she wrote them on napkins while traveling on a train, and was really poor..
an amazing story!! she is one of the richest woman in the UK!!

From what Ive heard she was an english teacher and loved writing, and she began working on the Harry Potter story when she was 26 years old in portugal. (Although at the time she didnt have a name for it or have it well developed.) It was when she divorced her husband and moved to be near her sister that she decided to finish the book and began attempting to get it published.

As far as I know, she was on a train, staring at the cows, when suddenly the idea popped into her head... you know, with witches and wizards. That's the actual way she came up with it. In fact, you come up with more ideas when you're resting, or not thinking hard.
