on the radio i heard that it was the most popular costume this season and stores just can't keep them in stock. personally i think that is morbid and a horrible idea. i feel terrible for his family. but i also heard that when the tiger bite roy from siegfried and roy, the number one costume was his outfit with a tiger biting the neck. what do you think??

Ugh, how disgusting. Why profit from something that is so tragic and disturbing. Let the family have their sorrow and sadness and not let it be clouded by something so rude and crude. Why do people try to profit from so many people's misfortunes?

I was on vacation in Chile with my family, and (I woke up early that day for some strange reason) I went to the computer to check my e-mail and there was a heading on Yahoo that said Steve Irwin was dead. I almost started crying. Yeah, it was a big shock. It was very sad :(

I understand your feelings. However, one of the purposes of Halloween is to laugh at death and at scary things.

A few years ago I found a Bible verse:

"Moab has become an object of ridicule,
an object of horror to all those around her."
--from Jeremiah 48:39

I also saw a PBS panel of comedians in which one of them said, "We laugh at what scares us." More recently, I found a verse in Ezekiel that talks about someone or something becoming "a byword...an object of horror."

So, making fun of Steve Irwin's death or Roy's accident is a way of coping with the unexpected and frightening. You can also think of it as a tribute to the celebrities, particularly Irwin.

To see a Steve Irwin costume without the stingray, look here:

Addendum: from what I've heard and seen, the Steve Irwin costume has no stingray or stingray barb. People are apparently buying the costume and adding the stingray!

This is so horrible. I can't even imagine letting my child wear something like that. Shame on the makers of such a thing!

Personally I find that to be very farfetched. But even if it is true, why would anyone make one first of all, much less buy one? Thankfully I haven't seen those anywhere near where I live.

Sick people in this world. Not only the people who would make the outfit , but the people who would buy such a outfit.
