Do you want a portable media player or a PSP?

The speakers on the PSP arn't that good. It's alright if you're the only one watching and using head phones but its bareable without it.
Great combination of games, videos and music.
Current maximum memory stick size is 4GB and those run for ~$100 each.

If you only want to watch movies and listen to music, get a PMP (Portable Media Player).

I would go for the PSP because I love video games, but if you are a movie fanatic got for a PMP.

Note : I own a PSP w/ a 1GB Memory Stick (Upgrading to 4GB =])

I haven't heard any music using PSP, but the reason for not doing this is because you would need to purchase a separate memory card (Sony's proprietary memory stick) to copy music onto then install on PSP to play it. PMP already comes with memory in the form of flash or hard drive.

If the point is to reduce the number of gadgets, then yes, I would agree with what you have proposed.

Sounds good in theory, but each memory stick will be pricey!! And trust me, the memory sticks will fill up FAST. I was thinking about doing the same, but opted not to.
In the long run, getting an iPod will be cheaper and better. (for the amount of songs that you can put in it.)
Buying UMD movies is a waste. For the same price, I prefer to buy the real DVD.
Anyway, i guess thats just my opinion.

If you live in the US, I suggest the Sirius Stiletto

Not only can you download 2 GB of your favorite songs, but you can connect live to Sirius Satellite Radio (www.sirius.com), which provides the best programming amongs broadcasting conglomorates in the US (including 100's of channels of commercial free digital music, talk and sports).

It cost $12.95/month for radio (it's less expensive if you buy 2 years up front). But it's the wave of the future.

I highly recommend it.

Cheers

You will have to buy separate memory but the quality is awesome. I would research it further if I were you.
