so I was assigned to find a positive spin on Osama Bin Laden for an art piece by my instructor.
The piece will be done in probably acrylic or maybe ink.
My Question is: What are the positive effects of Bin Laden from follower of his point of view?
We're not talking from an American point of view here, I need things that if you were on his side, you'd feel about him. If I could ask one of his followers I would, but I do not have a resource for that.

To the last guy:
I'm sorry, but I'm an artist, I will NEVER refuse an assignment to express myself. I am simply looking for research to broaden my spectrum on the situation.
If I can put my all into something negative and have it turn into something positively beautiful-I will.

That's a good assignment as nobody is purely bad, including Hitler.
I would imagine that living in the U.S. you probably have a very anti-Bin Laden atmosphere, so your teacher is trying to open your minds a bit with this assignment.
It's the same with so many anti-Bush people. It's hard for us to see anything positive about the man, but it's a worthwhile exercise.
Find the positive, then impeach him. Or better yet, the opposite. Impeach him ASAP.
Bin Laden in a good light? Hmmm....
Keeping his calm while being the most wanted person in the world, being chased by the largest military in the world. Not only is he expert at hiding, but he's likely living in very harsh physical conditions, yet he always seems to be calm and collected.

It's not easy to find some good things about bin Laden, but I refer you to a website that is at least more balanced than most.
You may try to get in touch with some of his children, who have spoken well of him.
Remember, too, that the US supported him when he fought the Soviet Union in Afghanistan. You may well find some good things about him in old US government sites.
The Republicans and Democrats like to forget that we gave Saddam Hussein the chemicals he used against his own people. Somehow the guilt doesn't rub off on us. Similarly, our help financially and strategically to Osama bin Laden seems to have become unmentionable.

His followers would see him as the reincarnation of the prophet Muhammed, the originator of the Islamic faith. For your art piece, you could depict him as the Islamic Messiah, as many of his followers have put him on a pedestal almost that high. Especially since they feel that his leadership of the Taliban was going to bring Islam to the rest of the World so we would all live in peace under the Quran and Islamic Law.

He has big bucks and is supported by people with big bucks. Unlike the USA he knows how to get the most bang for the buck. The fact that he is still alive with a huge bounty on his head means he knows how to choose his friends. 9/11 proves him to be a brilliant general that has earned the respect of all but fools.

Osama (apparently) really believes in what he is doing and is willing to undergo any hardship, including dying, for his beliefs. How do you depict that kind of "devotion" in a piece of art?
To his followers, he is one step removed from a god. Again, how do you artistically represent that?
I think you've got your work cut out for you!

That is easy, Osama Bin Laden is an heroic leader of his people's fight for freedom and for the dominance of their religon.
Always remember, that history judges the winners good and the losers evil.

Why don't you go with the idea of him being misunderstood and condemned by the world; like someone who is somewhat of an idealist who refuses to be defeated by opposition. That's probably how I would try to work it. Good luck.

Yank that thing wrapped around his head and he'll spin like a bearded top.If he goes to the right it'll be a positive spin. If you're looking for a use for that wothless piece of crap, he can always serve as a bad example.
