Yes we have! CCTV shows that practically everything we do is being tracked. There are no more secrets! Whilst CCTV is quite disturbing - even though it can be helpful as well - our privacy has slowly been taken away over the years, without us thinking too much about it. Look at the credit card: companies use the information gained concerning what you purchase; how much you spend; where you go; how often you go; and then they build a profile, so that they know what makes you tick and what they can do to get you to spend more and buy certain products, etc. Look at mobile phones: as long as your mobile is on they can practically pinpoint your exact location. The satellites in space can be used to track and locate you. If you have an oyster card, they know roughly where you are at any given time and know your movements throughout the day. This is just part of the technology which is around us and which can completely and effectively invade our privacy. The worrying thing is that as with any technology it can be abused, and that's troubling. If you haven't seen it, and you ever get the chance, watch a cult 60s TV series called The Prisoner. The world we live in is slowly becoming "The Village".

Yes I think to a point we have lost our privacy, but in the same respect it has saved life's and cut down on crime in a lot of areas, with something like CCTV there will always be good and bad points.

I read the book - 1989 - a long time ago, I am 33 by the way. When i read it, i was thinking, this is strange, but real! I think that in todays world, we NEED it.
People look at the world these days and think - 'what can I get away with?' - this is where the world has gone mad.
These things were put in place to protect us, but instead it seems that this is now a place to hide from crime, and the question now is - 'where can i get away with it?'.
The world is a scary place and now the difference is - we ALL know it.

It is a vicious circle. You need privacy if you are alive. You need CC TV to be alive!
