King is an English name introduced to Ireland in the 17th century.
Several more complicated Irish (Gaelic) names were sometimes Anglicized to King for the sake of convenience. Murray, and it's variants, can be both Irish and Scottish. A rather prolific name in Donegal, one of the three provinces of Ulster which did not become part of Northern Ireland.
