A Guyanaian immigrant to where? How the young immigrant would feel would depend greatly on where that person immigrated to. If they immigrated anywhere in the Southern United States, where the stigma of 'colored' still exists, they would likely feel very threatened, and bewildered. If they moved to Alaska they would probably feel cold. If they immigrated to the United Kingdom they would be delighted at the number of their fellow countrymen they would see there. If they immigrated to France they would be astonished at how open that society is.
Etc.Etc.Etc.
So you need to do a little more thinking about this, draw your own parameters and then use your imagination, based on whatever facts you can find about the country to which your young person has immigrated.

um, this is kind of a specific question (and Guyana's a small country I believe), so you can always BS your project. Find out the region it's in (South America, Pacific Islands, Carribean?) and find out what people are like there and customs, traditions, etc and maybe make up a fake (Guyanian?) name and say how different it is here, w/examples & comparisons/contrasts, but include mostly positives and talk about how different high school is here and stuff. In addition, find the biggest current problem there and make that the reason that the "immigrant" left. Also include financial reasons (money is better here) to make it realistic. As a bonus, maybe include a picture of a current teenager there (with their permission, please). myspace is good for this. sure it can be considered "cheating", so try to find a real account of a guyana immigant first.
