Buildin wall unit make wird smell when turn on.
It is pretty old.
Is it safe?
The flame burn normally.

probably just dust burning off it , but you might need a specialist check it out too be on the safe side

no, what # 1 said is correct & they add more of the stinky substance to natural gas at the begining of season & during extreme cold snaps so you can smell leaks. if you have the blue flame you're good to go!

Have it checked, you can have a perfectly normal flame yet have a cracked heat exchanger which will release cabon monoxide into the living space....not good!

if the water in the unit is old you need to flush out the unit
