Name one single war that we fought that there wasn't any opposition to it. Yet we've won most every war. In World War 2, there were plenty of people opposed to it, but that opposition didn't bother our brave soldiers in the slightest. In WW2, we had a clear plan for victory, and our brave soldiers secured the victory; they didn't care that some people opposed the war.

Why shoud we believe that suddenly our soldiers can't fight effectively unless every solitary soul back in the USA supports the war. Our soldiers are NOT a bunch of softies. They are great American heroes and should not be hung out in Iraq for endless years of combat in a pointless, politically driven, and counterproductive war.

I am TOTALLY 100% with you!
Yeah, it's all the THINKING PEOPLEs fault that Bush 'n' Co. have no war strategy. Sure. I'm surprised this didn't come from Fox News.

What kind of soldiers would we have anyway, if this were true..
Which I know for a fact is not, because my cousin is a Marine and he and his company are very DETERMINED (he knows his job and no complaining civilian could change this).. not weak minded, as they would have us believe. Please.

the effect is not on YOUR soldiers. The effect is on the enemy. They KNOW that if they fight long enough, the US will cut and run. Or if Dems are in charge, they will declare victory, then cut and run (did you know Dems are BRAGGING about how they "handled" the Iran hostage crisis?)
Your soldiers (I'm not from the US) fight very well indeed. But the enemy needs to hear a clear message that NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS- they will still lose. A message like JFK said- "there is no sacrifice great enough". Result? Even USSR/Cuba backed off.

What the Dems are doing is encouraging the enemy. In my country that counts as treason.

BTW: The "cut and run" is politically driven. And this war will be pointless and counterproductive only if you LOSE it.

Never before has there been the media like now. Opposition to prior wars took very different forums...

Our soldiers are not softies, but they are human beings.

People keep talking about how Iraq is like Vietnam, well, check out how that war ended up for our soldiers...

Name another time in our history when everything our lousy news media says is blasted through cyberspace in a few seconds? Our soldiers are the best in the world, it's a damn shame that they don't see your support as much as they probably do of the crap that Cindy Sheehan spreads. My husband fought in Vietnam, it was a terrible time here, protesters, a media that didn't want the war, but what I see going on now is far worse.

Good point... no war is ever supported 100%. the idea that opposition to a war is going to demoralize our troops has validity - but the mere fact that there is so much opposition is probably a sign that the war was a mistake to begin with and we should not be puting our troops in harms way at all.

Name one single war...before now...that did not have a real time response to daily activities in the war. Also, our soldiers did not have real time access to the concerns of anti-war protesters. Sure there was opposition, but there was never the resources available to these people to use against the war advocates.

there has been opposition, often bitter and extremely vocal, to every war we've ever fought...IF we're losing this one, it's not because of oppostion at home, it's because of incompetence in the white house and pentagon...people need to stop making excuses...our 'leaders' are letting our troops and our country down...vietnam analogies are beside the point...we got our butts kicked in vietnam because we did not understand the enemy, did not bother to learn from our own mistakes in the field, and could not accept the fact that we were not wanted there by the vast majority of the people in the north OR south...the bottom line is, neither bush, cheney, nor rumsfeld have the slightest idea what they are doing...

This is the age of instant information and a different kind of war. Liberals got their way back in the day of Vietnam. They used the media to get us out of Vietnam. We lost that war politically not militarily. I hope we don't repeat what happened in Vietnam, when we pulled, out 3 million people died.
