You go to your local auto parts store and tell the guy I want a 66 amp alternator instead of the 40 amp I have! There may be other amperage available- just have the parts guy look up what is available and swap them out. If it has an external voltage regulator you may need to change that also. All most every make auto has a high out put alternator available for heavy duty (severe)applications!

Well, I bet you will need a new bracket and the style of plug will probably be different.

just change it...you need not do nothing else as the voltage regulator will keep it from doing any damage.
