Go to the beach...go to the beach...go to the beach.
Lauderdale has one of the best beaches in the country, in my memory. It is a deep sand beach with good facilities and numerous lifeguards.Storms have taken some of it, but a replentishment effort, I understand, has done a good job restoring the beach to the way it was.
Other than that, there are numerous sightseeing opportunies. The boats that take you around the waterways and canals--Ft. Lauderdale is known as the Venice of North America for its many linking canals--are a great way to see the city, plush homes, and other sights. Not far from Ft. Lauderdale is the Seminole Indian Reservation where alligator wrestling is a highlight. Other attractions can be found in brochures in all the hotels. Some of the hotels have nightclub attractions if you're interested.
But the beach is still the main attraction.
Enjoy the place known for "Where the Boys Are," once the hotspot of Spring vacation for college students and the name of a movie made about it.

There are great restaurants and shopping in the Los Olos district.
Also the cruise that goes through the canals and sees house is actually really nice. I have done that twice.
It may be called jungle queen, but i forget?
The beach is only OK in Ft Lauderdale, we prefer Singer Island in West Palm beach.
For kids the Sawgrass Mills shopping center has an amazing indoor play area. Its really huge and unique and good for kids of any age.

There's so much to do!!! You have to go to the Hard Rock Cafe & Casino.. don't miss out, there's so much there. Saw a comedy show at the Improv, had some drinks by the pool. There are bars and restaurants everywhere and great shopping too. We just got back and had a blast! The beach is real nice, shopping and lots of places to eat..
Hope this helps
