I am trying to find a certain type of dress for a halloween costume but I can't think of a correct term to put it as. If you use Yahoo Avatars, in the extras section under Halloween they have the picture titled 'Ghostly Headless Body' and that is the dress that I am looking for.

It is also the style that would take place in the late 1700s-1800s. Something you would see in Interview with the Vampire, Pirates of the Caribbean or Underworld. They have a very tight top like a corset and the bottom is very big, round and poofy.

Also not sure if I put this question in the right category. Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance for your answers.

You're looking for a Colonial gown. Not Victorian by any means...

Felicity from the American Girl Dolls collection also wears this style.

I would call it a Mme Pompadour style. There are a number of links to explore at the costumersmanifesto.com
