There are a number of reasons, including the adoptation of Greek and Roman forms of government, the theft of major works of art and their replication, the Northernly spread of Christianity (and its transformation through history). It was also because Greece and Rome established many of the states of Northern Europe, unifying tribes by choosing a side and wiping out others.
Mainly, it was that the pasty posers had to choose between the Mediterranean and their own ugly women. I know which one I would go with.

The Greek and Roman Empires where not limited to Italy and Greece. The Roman Empire at one point or another in it's existence pretty much took up the whole of Europe. So actually they are their ancestors.
Not that I think anyone in modern times can take credit for what others did that long ago.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'taking credit' for Greeks and Romans.
What I can tell you is that much of the Roman culture and Gods were taken from the Greeks, who were often teachers to young Romans.
I could also point out that during the height of Roman civilization, they occupied most of Northern Europe, Western Europe, Parts of Africa, and the Middle East. Because of this, many children in occupied areas were born from a Roman/Native marriage. Additionally, when the Roman empire began to fall, causing them to pull back, many soldiers remained behind with their native-born families. In fact many children who were half-Roman were considered Roman and looked forward to the day when they would at last see Rome themselves.
Finally, because of this, all of the 'romance' languages are derived from Latin.
So, in fact a great many people in the areas once occupied by Roman troops do in fact have Roman ancestry. I've never personally heard anybody take credit for Greek and Roman accomplishments, nor go around stating, "I am a Greek" or "I am a Roman." In fact, I doubt that there are any people in Italy who walk around referring to themselves as 'Romans'.

British each and every physique is combos of 'celts '(community Britons, maximum there because a minimum of neolithic circumstances) and Germanic human beings (vikings and Saxons) with the 'celtic' aspects being usually community ancestry, aside from specific aspects in Scotland. Celts are actually not a Germanic human beings btw. . The British Empire replaced into bigger and extra substantial to the international in the present day than the Roman. As replaced into the commercial revolution that befell there. Rome replaced into super in its day yet Italy grew to develop right into a tremendously poor place interior the early twentieth c, the place it replaced into nonetheless ideal in rural aspects for a guy to kidnap a woman he fancied, rape her and then assume her to marry him or SHE could be shamed. (real--this did often times ensue. Now it truly is barbaric.)

I as a Spartan say this: NONE OF US take credit until we achieve something. Because my ancestors were great doesnt make me something to brag about. Lets restore the glory of the West by returning to out greatest achievements and building on them?

Uhm... native German here. Southern Saxon, thus from the Northwest.
I have no idea why you are so angry, and how you got that idea. We are not at all taking credit for greek or roman culture or inventions or whatever. What is the object at all, that you are thinking of? What are we taking credit for? Please specify!
