Yes, unless he's an albino. Also, did you know that many people are mixed race and don't know it? There are companies that do DNA tests (you send them a cheek swab). Most American blacks are about 30% white, and many people who think they are "white" have African, Indian and even Asia blood.

Go far enough back in history and no body is a "pure" blood anything. England was repeated invaded and resettled throughout its history. So those claiming "pure" White Anglo Saxon Protestant Blood, probably have some Spanish, Norman, French Portuguese, etc, sprinkled throughout their DNA.
In a very despicable chapter in human history, Africans were brought to North America against their will. Being slaves, they were subjected to indignities that no one should suffer. One of these was rape. Many children born to slave women were the results of these repeated humiliations. So it should be no surprise that most Americans of African Ancestry also have other "ethnicity" mixed in.
In reality, there is only one race, the human race. We are all so much more alike than different, and the genetic variance within an ethnic group is often greater than the variance between "different" ethnic groups.

Yes. Black people in America are mixed with other races. The only difference is the degree. It may be so slight as to be unnoticed, or so great that they can "pass' for white or some ethnic group such as Spanish, Native American or Indian.

You can be a dark skin African-American and be mixed , also brown skin African-Americans can be mixed as well. Light skin African-Americans aren't the only ones who are mixed. You have tribes in Africa who are mixed Ethiopians, Somalians and Watusi to name a few. Most African-Americans are mixed with other races like Afro-Cubans, Native-Americans,Creole(French), Latinos(Boriquas) and Caucasians. Most slave owners raped there slaves. Your friend may have some Native-American blood among other things.

Yes that is what it means, Iam very light skinned. My father is Scottish,Black, and French, his father was from Europe and his mother was a mulatto (Black and French). My mother is Black, German and Native American. Her mother was a German and her father Black and Native American. WOW that's a lot of different races. When I'm asked what race to identify , I just say Choose one.

it could be as simple as one white ancestor 6 generations ago, as the majority of his features fit those of most African Americans. there are multiple shades of Black on the African Continent as well so the region of origin of his blood line could be a contributing factor, and help tell you the odds of where the white people entered the family tree.

First, I'd call him medium, not light. Rather handsome fellow, though.
To answer your question, yes, black people who are not actually black most likely have some non-***** ancestry. That is not at all uncommon, among all races. And it will become even more common in the future.
