In the fall why are some areas of the country more colorful if other areas have the same trees.?

I know that in Upper Michigan the color is splendiferous. But just 200 miles south, same tress the color is not as vibrant

It depends upon the weather during the year. Temperature and moisture are the main influences.

Good question - I guess it's got to do with the average daily temperature - I'm thinking colder means more colorful
