Please help!

I have a crappy water saver toilet. A Mansfield. CRAP CRAP CRAP! Anywho, when I push the handle, nothing happens. No flush, no water, no anything.

Now I know that if we had a normal toilet we could just reconnect the chain and all would be well. However, I don't have a normal toilet. I don't have the chain/flapper. Instead, I have some kind of funky tube that the lift arm slides into, and supposedly flushes that way.

I have taken it all apart trying to figure out what is going on, but just can't seem to see the problem.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Oh yes. I did notice while taking apart that rotten tube, that where the flush valve connects to hole in the bottom of the tank, there is a small hole. Maybe the size of a pencil. It looks like there may have been some kind of putty in there, but is now out. Could this be my problem?

Yeah I think that the tube is meant to be inside the hole with caulking. You could replace the flushing mechanism yourself or hire a plumber.
The water valve at the wall should also be considered that you may have it open too much varies the water pressure and causes problems.
Best to have a plumber handle it. Since youve taken it apart already it'll save you on labor.

I have the same kind of toilet. If you put more than two tissues in the toilet it stops up. Use a plunger and poor water down the toilet and flush. If nothing happens leave it alone and call someone ASAP !

The environmentalists ruin everything. Toilets used to be able to pass a brick but they outlawed them. Go to Canada and smuggle in a good ol' fashioned tiolet that flushed 1000 gallons of water per flush.

your handle fits thru square opening at top of flushvalve (cylinder shaped thing that goes up & down inside tank ) It takes a mansfield handle LONGER . look in yellow pages for plumbing wholesaler, call to see if they have mansfield handle. OR replace with TOTO toilet.

Open the back, if there is no water the float may be jammed in the up position. If there is water, just reach down and manually pick up the water stopper and it will flush.
