The dent is actually a depression, but they were using that word for the Brits so they decided to use the word 'frog' instead.
If you check Landgirl6's answer above

Because the 1st dent was caused by a frog trapped in the clay when the brick was fired
That answer is on page 2 of the website below

I have no idea, but I can guess! The dent in a brick is the weak bit, and "frog" is the nickname we give to French people!
Don't forget bricks were invented WAY before political correctness!

The answer isn't quite clear. According to the following website, "frog" could be related to the etymology of "fork" because of its shape. It's also possible that it's related to "frugal", because a frog is an indent, a hollow part that would "economise on materials and weight".
This is the website, The Great Frog Debate, where this is discussed:

go with land g.....there has been a variety of locking and anchor systems used in masonry...and it wasn't limited to english.....some of the most brilliant systems have been arabic/german/french/danish/hindi/chineese...oh and the odd italian...check their deffinitions....but in eack case a word would convey the idea or transfering a load..or a force vertically or horizontally
