if it's a bad sprain and still hurts, don't run. It sucks, and you might lose your 20 bucks, but if you do go and run it's just going to get worse. Once you sprain your ankle there is a really good chance it will happen again and again. The best way to keep that from happening is making sure you let it heal the right way, and all the way. If you run it will just take longer to heal, and you may do some major damage that can only be repaired with surgery, so its really not worth it. its not the end of the world...but its gotta get better.

First of all don't run this will only make it worse. Second ice and elevate the ankle periodically throughout the day. If you are not able to get out of running make sure that you have the ankle taped for stability.

Don't even think about running!!!! I sprained my ankle recently, and I didn't take proper care of it... so a month later I ended up going to physical therapy because it didn't heal well, and the ligaments didn't heal well, so now I have a little bump and I can't bend my foot as well.

DO NOT RUN IN THE RACE!!!

go to the doctor!!!!

i sprained my ankle badly about 15 years ago. i didn't have health insurance so i never went. i still have trouble with it (weakness and reinjuring it occasionally).

you need rest first of all. the doctor can give you exercises to maintain flexibility and regain strength. you might even need physical therapy. do not take this lightly. you'll regret it.

Never disregard the advice of trained medical people. That race is important to you, but this is your life and what happens with your ankle is something you will live with for the rest of your life. One race is not the end of the world. I'm sure there will be many more. Please see an orthopedic--they can give the best advice for you because your problem is their specialty. There are orthopedics and orthopedic surgeons. I'm not trying to spook you, but to save time and money please find one that is an orthopedic surgeon. It will save having to possibly go to several doctors for your problem. Best wishes to you.

i WOULDN'T RUN IN THE RACE TOMORROW, THAT IS AWFUL SOON. iF YOU WILL SOAK IT IN EPSOM SALT WATER THREE OR FOUR TIMES A DAY IT WILL GET WELL ALOT QUICKER. YOU CAN BUY EPSOM SALT AT DOLLAR GENERAL; WALMART ETC. IT'S GREAT FOR SPRAINS, PUT IT IN AS HOT OF WATER AS YOU CAN STAND,SOAK IT TILL WATER GETS COOLER. TRY NOT TO PUT YOUR WEIGHT ON THAT FOOT FOR A FEW DAYS.
