I think hottest would be better and here's why: Although you are bound to lose that quickly, people still want to sleep with "the guy who was once thought the hottest man alive. The cattle trucks would keep rolling in and you'd just lie back and have a good time.
If you're the smartest though, that is something that you don't just lose. Someone has to take it from you, and that means it's like being the fastest gunfighter -- everyone wants to try and take you on. And to be honest I don't want to do trivia unless I get to be lazy and have sex a lot.

smartest, hot only gets you so far. What would happen if you got scarred in a car accident? It would be a seemingly easy life if you were the hottest person, but I have to imagine that it would also be a bit lonely too.

I'd rather be the smartest. Time will eventually fade my 'hotness', but it will increase my knowledge. I don't know why so much of Western civilization venerates physical appearance over age and wisdom.
Besides, so much of beauty is contrived. Women wear make up, get implants, guys get hairpieces, both sexes can get contacts rather than glasses and have fake tans, colored hair. You just have to wonder what will happen the first time they wake up next to each other, squinting and hoping that their lack of contact lenses can explain why the hottie they went to bed with the night before now looks like crap.
I'd rather, and do, spend money on books instead of making myself look like somebody I'm not. Jeans and a t-shirt will do it for me. The fact that I'm told that I'm hot is nice and fine - but it doesn't compare with being told that I'm intelligent, logical, well-read, and creative.

Definitely smartest... being "hot" doesn't make people love you- just your body. Being smart doesn't necessarily make people like you either, but if they do fall in love with you, it's more likely that they actually like you.

Smartest.
Well, even though 'smart' people don't usually get the attention they want (i.e. nerds), these nobel laureates get ALOT more opportunities than you think.
While being hot is fun, eventually you age, skill-less and unwanted, incapable of being able to keep someone around to love you forever.
