No. Over the many years, there have been a number of tragedies that have occured in the Amish communities. This latest one was so awful, it got everyone's attention.
I recall an incident in Northwestern PA, maybe 10 years ago. An Amish man went insane and killed his family. It made the news in Western PA, but not the rest of the country.

They will probably make some changes for safety, like locking the school when it is in session. I think they should definately have a phone in the school just for emergencies, but I know they mostly do not have electric. They are planning to tear down the current school to help rid the memory of the tragedy when the children return to school. However, I don't think things will change much, they are strong in their religion and faith and it keeps them strong.

No, on the contrary -- I think it will, if anything, reinforce the way the Amish live by serving as proof of how dangerous it can be to live like most of modern society (guns, technology, etc.).

I think they might think about making a change for their saftey. They need to think about emergencies and unexpected things. This type of situtation can happen anywhere. So yes I do beleive they will make changes.

Yes.I don't think they were ready,and there is a whole bunch of other people crazy people out there.I think they will keep an eye out because now you just can't trust anybody today it's really sad.

No. They are a people that base their lives around God, love and forgiveness. I don't think anything will change other than they may be more leary of strangers.

No I live 10 minutes away from where that happened and they are being very strong and forgiving. Their faith will get them through.

NO, because it is all about faith. They do not loose their faith when something like this happen. It is like a challenge that they have to pass.
