NO ANIMAL PLANET IS NOT FORGETTING ITS GREATEST STAR.
Fact: Steve Irwin made the turned the Animal Planet Channel from a rather be missed station into a big hit. Animal Planet and the Discovery Channel have both said this.
The Animal Planet has held a Crocodile Hunter marathon for his death and they developed a memorial commercial for him. They also have plans to air more episodes of his show. A lot of the episodes are in the can and we can expect several months of his show to come. However the tape of his death will NEVER see the air.
Terry Irwin and Steve's friends and his extended family of the Australia Zoo will continue operations. They kept the park open even after Steve's death, because that is what he would have wanted done. His wishes on his burial and funeral services have been honored. (Poor Agro, Steve’s toughest croc, will never she his favorite enemy again.)
The very first episode of the Crocodile Hunter was made with pictures taken from Steve and Terri’s Honeymoon. Terry was an animal lover from as far back as she can remember and she loved Steve so much that she married him after only knowing him for 6 months. For Terri it was love at first sight. She will do her best to carry on his legacy and she knows that Australia Zoo and the TV series are the best ways to do it.
Bindy, Steve’s oldest daughter is a budding star herself. She has grown up at the Zoo, with a camera in her face for most of her life, and is well know on Australian TV. She is going to make a TV series that I bet Animal Planet will pick up. It will be similar to Steve’s stories, but told from a young person’s point of view. Steve never wanted to be separated from his family and he did the same thing that his Dah did when Steve was young; he threw them in with the animals. Bindy doesn’t know as much as her father knows, nor is she as skilled, but for someone who is still in Grade School she is as close to her father as you can get. She has some of the best instructors in the world around her, and I am sure that she has that same love for animals that Steve did. She has spent her entire life around them and learned from the best conversationalist since Darwin. Her love for animals, and her charm with them isn’t just in her blood; it is in her very spirit. I am sure that Terry Irwin will be the main person behind her and the camera, just as she was with Steve’s show. I am also sure that Wez, Steve’s best friend, will make sure that Bindy’s career will be a reflection of Steve’s career; not better, not the same, but a reflection done with Bindy’s own charm.
Steve will live on in their hearts, in all of Australia Zoo, in the hearts of all their viewers (all over the road), even in the corporate heart of Animal Planet, and my heart as well.
Darwin the Naturalist wasn’t that good of a Naturalist at home. He was so bad that his father sent him on a long and very dangerous sea voyage to try a make a man out of him. His own innate skill, and love of nature is what made him so good, and when he reflected back on the voyage of the Beagle that became the foundation for his work on the Origin of the Species. Steve went Croc hunting with his father as soon as he could walk. I don’t know how much education he had, but I doubt if he went beyond High School. All his education was in the Bush, the water, and at his father’s knee. His love for animals shined through and his remarkable communication skills were a natural gift. There hasn’t been a better spokesperson for that Animal World since Darwin. He may not be as respected a scientist as Darwin was, but his work to conserve animals, his sheer enthusiasm and his ability to communicate that love to his audience made him a man as great as Darwin ever was. Bindy and Terri have some huge shoes to fill and I wish them all the luck on it.

I think they should show all the episodes of the Crocodile Hunter and rename them "Classics". And, since they are still going through the show with Bindi, The Jungle Girl, they are going to still keep his spirits alive.
