It looked incredibly realistic. I suspect he used latex or something to cover up his body but the fingers went pretty deep inside and the heart coming out looked very real! Any clues on how he did that?

one other reason why it looks realistic is that they seemed to be a space underneath his skin

Try this:
Put a small table in front of a large mirror.
Put your fingers together, so your hand is flat like a spatula.
Look at your reflection. Put your fingertips on the table top, so that your palm is facing you, and your knuckles are reflected.
Say the magic words "This IS a SCAM!"
On "This", lift your hand up about an inch, and tap the fingertips on the table.
Do it again on "Is".
On "SCAM!", bend your fingers towards you, and push your hand down against the table top.
Your reflection will look like you have pushed your fingers THROUGH the table top.
That's how the guy pushed his hand "into" his chest. (At least that's ONE easy way.)
One might have a foam-rubber heart squeezed up small, and dipped in fake blood, hidden in the hand. (Try the illusion again with a Nerf toy.)
There are books in your public library that explain how just about any trick is done.
They are tricks, illusions.
Pulling your heart out of your chest would cause an instant and severe medical problem, really!
