I really need the money and I saw an ad in the Castro City paper about a job opening at a gay bar that pays very well. If I do get the job should I pretend to be gay? If so could you please tell me how to act gay?

yes, it's ok. Will you get the job? Maybe not. Yes, if you get a job in a gay bar, you should probably act gay if you want good tips...but that's totally up to you- if you're not comfortable with that, be yourself. If you want to act gay, just show interest in what the other men are talking to you about. You don't have to go overboard acting like 'you're gay'. Just smile at the customers, and listen to them.

It's perfectly normal to work in a gay bar, and you don't have to act gay all you have to do is be yourself, gay people don't want to be lead on. So be who you are and enjoy the scene and the conversations that arise. Good Luck with the job.

No, don't pretend to be gay. I don't think anyone would care if you're straight. But if it's a bar, you gotta be prepared for the inevitable bad drunk who'll grope you now and then. And you might get hit on, but if the conversation ever gets beyond flirty pleasantries, just say you're straight and guys will back off.

Though I'm sure you'll get plenty of jokes about "converting"!

God says, its ok for a straight guy to work in a gay bar especially one as good looking as you (seriously, he is hot). There are a lot of straight women who go to gay bars so I would suggest that you get some name cards made up as you're going to be busy!

dont pretend to act something that you are not ....unless you really are gay. of course you have to act freindll towards them but if you act fake they will be able to pick up on it. as long as you are comfortable with who you are it doesnt matter if you work there. after all its just a job.
To answer your ? about how to act gay give lots of eye contact and smile. straight guys do not give a lot of eye contact. and when he gives you a tip just say thanks hun, lol then they will think you are. but dont be surprised if some guy slips you his #. after all they think you are gay. wear tight shirts that show off your body too.

be yourself, be comfortable. don't act like a gay cuz you r not. but some ppl will touch you or kiss you when they've drunk. I think you'll be ok to survive from a gay bar. Straight always go straight. But don't forget who you r.

It is ok, I knew many straight bartenders working gay bars. The tips are FANTASTIC. Keep your head about you, and never question yourself, take the flattery, do your job, and have a blast.
