how do you get sims to work?

on sims2 i want to download stuff, i go through all of the download things and only the clothes work, how do i get the other things to work?

Try www.modthesims2.com -they have downloads and if your downloads don't work they have a program they can pinpoint the error and fix it. When I download things for my sim games, I have to restart my computer before they work.
