As one who has studied Christian religious sects for the last 50 years, I find that the Amish and their other Anabaptist counterparts understand Christianity better than all the others combined. They lead a simple life. They offend no one, and as you noticed, they don't hold grudges and forgive people in micro seconds.
there are a myriad of books published on them by Herald Press, an Anabaptist publishing house. If you want to know more of them, go to Herald Press on the internet and look at the offerings.
They are truly incredible people and funny enough, not many people know much about them. They evolved out of the Reformation movement of Huldrych Zwingli in Zurich right after Martin Luther put his nails and hammer up. Part of Zwingli's group broke off when Zwingli accepted the infant baptism of those who came with them. The group, headed by Conrad Grebel, thought that those who came into the church should be "rebaptized." The word "Anabaptist" means rebaptize. They went through hell in all parts of Europe and Russia where they wandered off to, and many came to the US, coming in on both coast. What you saw in Pennsylvania, is only a small portion, and only one small group of pretty large number of them. You have the Mennonites, Hutterites, Hussites, and many more that follow much the same pattern of life and religion.

Maybe out of this tragedy the world will now see what the true meaning of "Love one another as I have loved you" (John 13:34)
truely means.
Keep those qualities in your heart that you've spoke on.
We have to try and make this world a better place.

've found a new respect for these people .. although I do not agree with some of their beliefs ..
While most people around the world were outraged at what happend .. The Amish heeded what the bible says about forgiveness.
It brought a tear to my eye to hear their spokesman say that they have forgiven the gunman and want to COMFORT his familly.
wow!
Oh if only more of the world were like them.

they are going to probable make some differences for protection, like locking the school while that's in consultation. i think of they could definately have a telephone in the school in basic terms for emergencies, yet i understand they customarily have not got electric powered. they're making plans to tear down the present college to help rid the memory of the tragedy while the youngsters return to college. in spite of the shown fact that, i do no longer think of issues will replace plenty, they're sturdy of their faith and faith and it keeps them sturdy.

Not sure if inspired is the correct term for me, but certainly, my respect for them, which has always been high, has deepened and grown. It appears they truly do have Christ like minds and hearts/
