A transitive verb is a verb that requires an object (it needs to be followed by a noun or pronoun). Example sentence: I saw Teddy Geiger in concert. The transitive verb is "saw" because after it you have a direct object telling who you saw.

An intransitive verb does not have an object (it is not followed by a noun or pronoun). Example sentence: People danced in the aisles. The intransitive verb is "danced" because you don't have a direct object after it naming the dance.
