I think it's a great book...and it's not a hard read. If you like The Count, you might want to try the Great Gatsby--it's my favorite classic. If you're into the more fantasy type books like 1984 and Animal Farm, consider Farhenheit 451 by Bradbury and Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne.

The Count of Monte Cristo was a great read. If you like this genre though, maybe you should try the sci-fi/fantasy genre as well as thrillers or other puzzles-type books like the da Vinci Code, Decipher by Stel Pavlou, Amazonia by James Rollins or Temple by Matthew Reilly. Each of these books are great reads and Matthew Reilly is one of my favorite authors in this genre.

From the other books you mentioned here I think you like reading science or futuristic or sci-fi. The greatest writer for all three is Issac Asimov ( 450 books) ,a genius, a physic and a probably the most prolific author in history .
Get a library membership or it can be expensive

I'd say just get it from the library and start to read it. If it's a book which fires your imagination you'll just keep on going to the end.
I loved that book but it doesn't mean everyone has to love it too.
It's a question of taste and to some degree perseverance (it's a long story)
I think I was about 14 when I read it.

I loved the book.
But "Animal Farm" won't come close!
If you read stuff like that, it might be out of your league!
I'm more of a Jane Austin, Shakespeare type..
If you find Austin's work difficult, you might find Count of Monte Cristo hard....
Try it though!! it's great!!

It is way better than the recent film
It is a story dealing with honor and class struggle.
By the way, that is a great book list. Try Stranger In A Strange Land.

I loved the book but then I'm into historical fiction. I think you'll like it. Have you tried the 3 Musketeers?
