I agree with the morning after pill. I do; however, believe people should still be responsible when having sex.

The morning after pill is good for situations such as
A woman who is not sexually active and gets raped.

A friend of mine learned the hard way not to get drunk at a party. The last time she drank, she did not remember much about the evening and woke up with a strange man in her bed. That was 15 years ago and she now has a teenaged daughter from that night. She was not on birth control because she had no plans to sleep with anyone. If the morning after pill would have been available, perhaps she would not have ended up with a pregnancy she was unprepared for (and she does not believe in abortion). She would not give up her daughter for anything, but she wishes her life could have turned out differently.

Yes - both prevent prevent pregnancy. This should be in every college student's medicine cabinet in case birth control fails. I remember one time a girlfriend and I were going at it and her diaphram flipped over near the end. Well those things have a spring in the outer ring and it kinked in such a way as it was causing pain so she had to remove it. We were nervous for weeks whether that accident was going to cause a pregnancy. If we'd had the morning after pill - all that worry could have been avoided.

dropped_skittles you are confused. They work exactly the same way, and are the exact same hormones, just in different dosages. Birth control doesn't contain the pregnancy hormone--it doesn't "trick" your body--it does a number of things to prevent pregnancy, one of which is to prevent implantation should ovulation and fertilization occur (which rarely happens).

Hormonal birth control is the same thing as emergency contraception except that EC is for...emergencies only.

*EC will NOT terminate an existing pregnancy. It is different than the so-called abortion pill. EC is contraception and prevents a pregnancy from occuring.

Yes, I agree with the "morning after" pill, but only in cases of rape. For consensual sex, there's condoms, spermicide, and birth control.
As another answerer stated, the "morning after" pill actually terminates a pregnancy. Birth control fools the body into thinking it's pregnant. So they are a little different, but the outcome is the same: No pregnancy.

I think it's a great idea. And yes, it's just like birth control -- prevents an embryo from forming or implanting itself in the uterus.
Anything we can do to help avoid unwanted pregnancies is a good thing.

no they don't do the same thing

the pill tricks your body into thinking its already pregnant

the morning after pill stops sperm from getting to the egg and if it already has it terminates the pregnancy

they are both hormones but aren't the same thing

I think you should take responsibility the night before. If you are going to rely on that pill you could end up with all kinds of STD's from not using protection. Just use a condom!
