I am a grandmother with custody of two minor children, I have let the children go to live with their mother on a trail basis. We live in the same town in Georgia. Is there a law that says we cannot do this legally? They come over almost every week end, II go over to their house to see them during the week. Ikeep in touch with the school to see if everything is going good. I am still in their lives.

You are their legal guardian, responsible for their best interest, etc. It is not illegal that you have allowed them to live at their mother's on a trial basis... However if it turns out to not be in their best interest she is not able to keep the children... You are the custodial guardian according to the courts.....

If you have a legal document awarding or assigning you as legal guardianor custodian parent, then you can not let them stay with their mother without legal consent. You stand a real good chance of losing those kids by doing such for both you and their mother. The courts may agree with you on what youre doing but have the courts permission before playing around with child custody
