Nah. From what I'd heard about childbirth, I knew it was likely to be the worst day or two of my life. We thought it would be nice to have a surprise to look forward to at the end. Childbirth ended up being worse than I imagined, but the surprise (a girl!) was good.

I did with all three of my little ones. I have heard of people not wanting to know. Some say that they want a feeling of surprise. Some say they don't care (they are just concerned that the baby is healthy). But in my case, I'm the type of person that ALWAYS have things planned way ahead of time. By me knowing that I was expecting a girl, I went out and bought girly things. When I knew that I was expecting my two boys, I went out and bought boy things. I don't like feeling caught off guard about anything lol!

I really tried to find out. With my first they told me i was having a boy- i was so excited. I ended up having a girl. When i was pg with my middle child they said it was a girl, after delivery they announced it was a boy. Ok so when my third came around, during all the ultrasounds the baby wouldnt cooperate so i never was able to find out- i had a boy. I guess it just goes to show that even though you think you may be sure- i wouldnt start buying baby clothes that are one color until AFTER baby comes.

yes i did

its wonderful. go to http://www.pregnancystore.com

they have a new test that can tell you as early as 5 weeks into the pregnancy.

i think its a good thing because you can really prepare. you also get to identify with your child. Instead of calling it "it", you can say He or She. You can even decide the name and talk to him or her, with a sense that your child is in there, instead of some "it"

my wife and I will always find out as soon as possible. plus it helps you buy the right clothes, toys, register for showers, paint the room, etc... see where I am going?

it doesnt ruin any surprise, because the ultimate surprise is when you finally get to see what they look like, and how they change every single day... its always an adventure :-)

good luck

No I didn't but unfortunately in the 70's when I was having babies that was not an option. I didn't even have a sonogram on my two but if I was having babies today I would for sure want to know so I could plan.

Yeah but i didn't find out until I was 7 months pregnant because the baby was always turned the wrong way Then one day soon after i was 7 months the baby was turned so we could see it My baby boy had his legs wide open ready to tell us what he was and that he was on his way to the world He showed how much he appreciated it by flipping us off

We didn't find out with our child. We decided not to because we wanted to look forward to that "It's a Boy/Girl" moment. It really gave me something to work hard for during labor, just knowing that the harder I worked the sooner we would find out if we were blessed with a son or a daughter. It was the most exciting moment of our lives. With our next child we won't find out either.

I did on the first two and then decided to wait on the third. I wanted my last to be a complete surprise. Unfortunately my Dr. accidentaly let slip that it was a girl. However, come delivery it was a boy. So I still got my surprise!
