It is Thanksgiving Day in Canada. That is the day when we give thanks for an abundant crop of fruit and vegetables that God let us grow. Thank you for your question.

US is Columbus Day - (observed)
Canada is Thanksgiving
I wish I knew the really reasons, but sadly, I only know what I'm taught in school, as I think October 9 is Columbus's birthday

In USA we celebrate Columbus Day because Columbus "discovered" Vespucciland.
In Canada they celebrate Thanksgiving because they're grateful that Columbus didn't discover them.

It's Columbus Day. He ran into North America but thought he'd found India. He forgot to go to Mapquest.com first. :-)

Traditionally credited with discovering America, and bringing North and South America to Europe.
